The application deadline for the 8 Week Advanced Methods Session  (June 3 - July 31) is May 3 2023

The application deadline for 3 Week Practicum Ethnographic Methods (June 10 to July 3) is May 10 2023

Full Tuition Cost $3,635 USD. Private Room -- Full Tuition Cost $3,550 USD Shared Double Room

Tuition Paid in Full is Due May 11 2022 -- Early Bird Discount (-$250) if Paid in Full by April 10 2023

 

The application deadline for the Summer Online 'FieldCraft' Session  (June 3 - July 27) is May 3 2023

Full Tuition Cost $1,500 USD -- Tuition Paid in Full is Due May 3 2023. All reading materials are included. 

Letter of recommendation, photos, insurance, etc. are not necessary for this course.

 

 

 

8 Week Advanced Methods Session is are $6,800 USD per student for a private room and include lodging, ethnographic methods training, PADI Open Water Dive Certification, Spanish Language familiarization and all Field School excursions including Whale Sharks.

 

3 Week Practicum Sessions are $3,625 USD per student for a private room and include lodging, ethnographic methods / medical anthropology training, Spanish Language familiarization and some Field School excursions including Whale Sharks.

8 Week Online 'Fieldcraft' Course Sessions are $1,500 USD per student and include all reading materials.

The Ixchel Scholarships are available to Advanced Methods students (8 week program on Isla Mujeres) who have been accepted by December 15, 2022, and whose research proposal is completed by Feb 30, 2023 (faculty guidance will be given).

 

The scholarships are for $1,000 USD and will be awarded to the first 5 students of the Advanced Methods course that apply and are accepted by the December 15th deadline. Please email info@anthrofieldschool.com for details.

If you apply and are accepted to join the Isla Mujeres Ethnographic Field School:

 

8 Week Session 1 Advanced Methods students -- Pay your tuition in full by April 3 2023 and receive a $500 Discount

 

3 Week Practicum students -- Pay your tuition in full by April 10, 2023 and receive a $250 Tuition Discount

Tell us a bit about your interests in anthropology, social science research, the study of culture and environment -- or other interests you may have that you would like to pursue while at the Isla Mujeres Ethnographic Field School. Also include three reasons why you want to attend the field school; a paragraph per reason will suffice.

Advanced Methods and Practicum Session Application Requirements

 

Applications are first-come, first-serve. We will only accept 20 students per session. If one or both of the sessions is filled, we will note that here when appropriate.

 

We advise that you apply as soon as you have decided that you want to attend an Isla Mujeres Ethnographic Field School Session to assure your reservation.

All application materials should be sent as one e-mail (the personal letter as the body of the e-mail -- and as an attachment transcripts, photo, resume and letter(s) of recommendation.

 

The subject line of your application should read 'Field School Application'. Send your application to:  admissions@anthrofieldschool.com

 

Once you send your application you will be notified via e-mail within one week indicating if you have been accepted or not.  Once you have been accepted, you will be given instructions regarding tuition payment.

 

Your $500 deposit is due within one week of acceptance.

 

 

TRANSCRIPTS AND RECOMMENDATION

 

Please attach a scanned copy of your University or College transcripts -- and at least one letter of recommendation from a faculty member in the department of anthropology (if you are not an anthropology student, then a letter from a faculty member in your department will suffice).

 

Also attach one recent picture of yourself.

 

If you do not have a GPA of at least 2.5 then we will require two letters of recommendation from two of your current faculty instructors.

 

 

 

INSURANCE

 

All Field School participants must provide their own health insurance.

 

Documentation of coverage is required before attending the Isla Mujeres Ethnographic Field School.

REFUND AND LODGING POLICIES

Partial Refunds may only be offered in the case of personal medical emergency or catastrophic injury as documented by a local physician or hospital.

Partial Refunds are offered solely at the discretion of Program Director Dr. Todd Pierce.

Family members and friends are not welcome to stay at Hotel Maria Elena student lodging during the course.

The Field School is an independent learning exercise and it is suggested visitors travel to the island after the student's academic course is fully complete.
